HostPush

Terms of Service

These terms govern the HostPush Pro add-on supplied by JILCH inc. ("we", "us"). The free HostPush plugin is not governed by them — see section 1.

Last updated: 17 October 2026

1. What these terms cover, and what they do not

  1. The WordPress plugin HostPush is distributed under the GPL-2.0-or-later. Copying, modifying and redistributing it are governed by that licence. Nothing here restricts what the GPL grants you.
  2. These terms cover the paid add-on HostPush Pro and the licence that entitles you to install it and to receive its updates.
  3. HostPush Pro is itself GPL-2.0-or-later software. What a licence buys is not permission to run the code — it is the entitlement to obtain it from us and to keep receiving updates and support for the licence term.
  4. The GPL licenses the code, not the name. "HostPush", the bell mark and the wordmark are ours. You may fork and redistribute the software as the GPL allows; you may not use those to present the result as ours, or in a way that suggests we published or endorsed it.
  5. Where anything in these terms would conflict with the GPL, the GPL prevails and the conflicting sentence does not apply.

2. Buying a licence

  1. Licences are sold through Freemius, Inc., which acts as the merchant of record. Freemius is the seller in the purchase transaction: it takes payment, issues the invoice, and is responsible for the taxes that apply to the sale.
  2. Your purchase contract — price, payment, invoicing, refunds and cancellation — is therefore with Freemius and is governed by Freemius's terms. These terms govern the software itself and your use of it.
  3. We do not receive or store your card details at any point.

3. What a licence covers

  1. A licence is valid for a stated number of WordPress sites. A site is one WordPress installation. Running the add-on on more sites than the licence states requires a licence that covers them.
  2. The licence key is yours to keep and manage. It may not be sold, sub-licensed, rented out or published. Publishing a key so that others can activate against it is the one use we will deactivate a licence for.
  3. A licence entitles you to updates and to support for as long as it is active.

4. Renewal, cancellation and refunds

  1. Licences run for one year and renew automatically at the then-current price unless cancelled before the renewal date.
  2. Cancellation and refunds are handled by Freemius, through the account page linked from your purchase email. Freemius offers a refund window on the purchase; the current terms of that window are theirs to state.
  3. Cancelling stops the renewal. It does not cut the term you have already paid for short: the licence stays active until the date it would have renewed.

5. What happens when a licence lapses

This section is a promise, not a limitation.

  1. Nothing you have already saved is deleted, and nothing your readers see stops working. The colours, shapes, text and position you configured stay in your database and keep being drawn exactly as they were.
  2. What stops is editing. Until the licence is renewed, the Design screen keeps the preview of what you configured but no longer shows the controls that change it.
  3. Category subscriptions, scheduled sends, digests and click counts are part of the add-on, and they stop starting new things — nothing more. Until the licence is renewed: new broadcasts go to every subscriber rather than to one category, and the dialog stops offering categories; the Send screen no longer offers a time to book; each post is announced when it is published rather than held for a digest; and openings of new broadcasts are not counted, with the click figures and the CSV download leaving the History screen. What they hold — the categories your readers chose, the click counts already recorded, the broadcast history — stays in your database, untouched. A broadcast you already booked goes out at its time and to the audience you chose for it. Posts already held for a digest stay held, and the Settings screen says how many, so you can send them yourself.
  4. Quiet hours, action buttons and everything else in the free plugin do not depend on a licence.

6. What you may not do

  1. Use the add-on to send notifications that are unlawful, that impersonate somebody, or that the recipient did not opt in to receive.
  2. Attempt to interfere with the operation of the plugin on sites that are not yours.
  3. Publish or share a licence key so that installations not covered by the licence can activate against it.

7. Your readers' data never reaches us

HostPush is self-hosted. Push subscriptions, the keys that encrypt them, category choices and click counts live in your own database and are sent from your own server to the browser vendors' push services. None of it passes through any server of ours, because we run none for it. What the plugin does contact, and what we hold as a company, is set out in the Privacy Policy.

You remain the controller of your readers' data. Meeting the obligations that come with that — your own privacy notice, consent where your law requires it, responding to access and erasure requests — is yours. The plugin keeps that last part small: a subscription holds no email address, name or IP address, so there is nothing for WordPress's personal-data exporter and eraser to find, and the plugin does not register with them. A reader withdraws from their browser or from the subscribe control on your site, the subscription is deleted within 30 days, and uninstalling the plugin removes everything it holds.

8. Support, faults and updates

  1. Support is by email at info@fpsjp.net, in English or Japanese, for the term of an active licence.
  2. The add-on is supported on WordPress 6.7 or later and PHP 8.1 or later. Running it below those versions is outside what we can support.
  3. If the add-on does not do what these terms and the product pages say it does, we will fix it, or arrange a refund through Freemius in proportion to the fault. This is what we take on instead of a promise that software is free of defects, and section 9 is written on the basis of it.
  4. We may change or discontinue features. Where a change removes something a licence was bought for, we will give notice on this site and by email before it takes effect.

9. Disclaimer and limit of liability

  1. Except as stated in section 8, the software is provided as it is. We do not warrant that delivery to every browser will succeed, that a browser vendor's push service will stay available, or that the software will be free of defects.
  2. Push delivery depends on services we do not operate — the browser vendors' push endpoints — and on your own server and hosting. We are not responsible for outages, throttling or policy changes on those.
  3. Except where the loss is caused by our intent or gross negligence, our liability to you for any claim arising out of the add-on is limited to the amount you paid for the licence in the twelve months before the claim arose.
  4. Nothing in these terms excludes liability we cannot exclude by law.
  5. Every exclusion and limitation in this section applies only to acts that are negligent short of gross negligence. It does not apply to our intent, and it does not apply to our gross negligence.

10. Changing these terms

We may change these terms. A change that materially affects an active licence will be announced on this page and by email at least 30 days before it takes effect, and you may cancel before then. Other changes take effect when posted, with the date at the top of this page updated.

11. Transfer of this agreement

You may not transfer your rights under these terms to somebody else without our consent. We may transfer them, together with the licence records, where the HostPush business is transferred to another company by sale, merger or company split; where that happens we will announce it on this page and by email before it takes effect.

12. If one part fails

If a court or an authority holds any part of these terms to be invalid or unenforceable, that part applies only to the extent it is valid, and the rest stands unchanged.

13. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms are governed by the law of Japan. Disputes arising out of them are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Tokyo District Court as the court of first instance. Where you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your habitual residence.
